Maps and taxis first; check your work calls in advance

Save your airport meeting point, hotel address and activity tickets. If you will be working, check your preferred video service before departure: a mobile data package alone does not guarantee that every calling app is available.

Beyond Dubai
Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah can complement a Dubai visit. Check remaining data and validity when travelling between emirates, and save routes before heading out of town.

Three airport codes to check
DXB is Dubai International, DWC is Al Maktoum International, and AUH is Zayed International in Abu Dhabi. Use the exact code for your transfer: these are not terminals at one airport.

How should I prepare for a work video call?

TDRA regulates internet calling and publishes a list of permitted services. Check your application against the current list before travelling and agree on a backup with colleagues. VPN availability is not a promise that any service will work.

Is a local airport SIM the same as a travel eSIM?

No. Local SIM conditions do not automatically describe your travel package. The UAE government portal lists documents for purchasing a local SIM; check the specific Skyalo plan for identification, phone number and calling conditions.

Before your UAE trip

Which networks are available with a UAE eSIM?

The current catalogue lists Du (5G). Check your selected package before purchase: the combined country list does not mean that every tariff accesses every operator.

Will every messaging app support voice calls?

That cannot be promised. Internet calling in the UAE depends on TDRA rules and the service itself. Check the current permitted-app list; messaging and voice calls are different functions.

Are DXB and DWC the same Dubai airport?

No. Dubai Airports operates two separate airports: Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC). Match the airport code on your flight ticket to your transfer booking.

Do I need another plan to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi?

Both cities are in the UAE. The journey itself does not require a different destination plan; check that your package is still valid and has enough data. This does not guarantee uninterrupted coverage along the route.

When should I install my eSIM for the UAE?

Check the selected tariff’s activation trigger, as rules can differ. If validity starts on installation, installing early uses part of that period; if it starts on first connection to a supported destination network, you can prepare the profile beforehand.

Will the plan cover Oman or Saudi Arabia?

Only if every country on your itinerary is explicitly included in the selected plan. Review the available regional alternatives and check each stop in the product’s coverage list before buying. A region name alone does not confirm coverage in a particular country.
